Before you were ever taught how to judge or self-critique, you learned how to play. The simple act of play can allow other positive feelings to flourish – such as self-compassion, joy, and pleasure in the moment.

Your voice is the first toy you ever learned to play with – rediscover it with this simple exercise. You can use the sample accompaniments below to get started. These short looping sound files are meant to help get a feel for the exercise; as you grow more comfortable, your sense of spontaneity and the length of time you spend in this activity will hopefully increase and provide an even deeper sense of pleasure and play.
